USA Today 10/22/15 - "Back to the Future II" Newspaper

In the 1989 film "Back to the Future II"," Marty McFly travels into the future to October 21st, 2015. Doc is concerned Marty's son will be arrested on October 22nd and he shows Marty the cover of the USA Today for the 22nd. You can see Marty looking at the paper in the still above from the film. USA Today put out the same paper in real life on October 22nd, 2015 as an homage to this classic movie. Below is the copy I purchased.

During Cameron's mental breakdown in the film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," Sloan, Ferris and Cameron pull over and Cam lays on a wall near the beach. Above is a still from the film. The water mass is Lake Michigan and they are sitting near Glencoe Beach which you can see in the background near Ferris' face. Below is the same location in August of 2015. You can find this location at the east end of Park Avenue in Glencoe, Illinois.

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria - Buffalo Grove, IL

A visit to the Chicago area would not be complete without some deep dish pizza. I wanted to try one of the originators of the style: Lou Malnati's Pizzeria. I made sure to visit their flagship location that has been featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel.

The pizza itself is amazing and finding words to describe how delicious it was is hard to do. It's good, trust me! You can find Lou Malnati's all over the Chicagoland area, but this particular restaurant is located at 85 South Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

The Shoe Tree - Woodstock, IL

The Shoe Tree is a roadside attraction my wife and I sought our on out road trip through Illinois. We tied one of her shoes and one of mine together and threw it into this tree, like thousands of others had before us, and made a wish. It's not too hard to find; there is a farm across the road from the tree. The farm's address is 19802 Dunham Road just north of Woodstock, Illinois.

Cecil the Lion - Twin Cities, MN

Dr. Walter Palmer is the infamous dentist that killed Cecil the Lion in July of 2015. His home and dentist office have been targets for protests and vandalism from people who believe he should not have killed the lion. These locations have been blasted all over media outlets including CNN and Headline News. The lion was protected by an African wildlife preserve and many believe he knowingly poached the lion. As I type this, Palmer continues to claim his innocence of not knowing the lion was protected.

Above is Palmer's home. You can find it at 11413 Landing Road in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Below is Palmer's dentist office, just minutes from his house. You can find it at 10851 Rhode Island Avenue South in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Burger King's Halloween Whopper

As I type this, it's the Halloween season and excitement hit me when I heard about this seasonal release from Burger King: The Halloween Whopper. For those unfamiliar, it's a normal Whopper with A1 Steak Sauce replacing the ketchup. The main draw for this product, however, was the black bun!

I must say, the wrapper for the burger was awesome! The burger itself is not all that spectacular. It looks amazing, but the overall flavor falls short. There is also a lot of strange news regarding this burger. You know it's bad news when the headlines don't have anything to do with the flavor of your food but rather the product your body creates after you consume it. It turns your poop Ninja Turtle green...no joke. Trust me on that one.

I am happy when anyone takes risks with their food, especially if they give it a Halloween theme. This would be the rare instance where I hope this is a one-and-done product for BK.

The Field of Dreams - Dyersville, IA

A baseball field in the middle of a corn field in Iowa. It might sound crazy, but the motto is true: If you build it, they will come. A small farm to the east of Dyersville, Iowa, was used as the Field of Dreams in the classic film, "The Field of Dreams." Above is a still from the film. Below is the same location in August of 2015.

In the still above from the film, Kevin Costner admires his work; below in 2015.

The Art Institute of Chicago - "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" Filming Location - Chicago, IL

The Art Institute of Chicago was used for a filming location in the film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," and gave us a few memorable moments. Above is Ferris, Sloan and Cam entering the museum. Below is the same location in August of 2015.

Above, the threesome is striking the infamous pose while staring at a statue. The location within the museum has changed but below is a photo of the actual statue in 2015.

Sloan, Ferris and Cam join some elementary students as they parade around the sculpture above. Again, this location has changed but the actual statue is below. The photo was taken in 2015.

Cameron stares at the painting in the still above from the film. Below is the same painting in 2015.

Aside from being the fimling location for this movie, this museum is full of priceless works of art.

If you are visiting Chicago, save a day to visit this place. It's amazing!
