Nodaway Consolidated School - Nodaway, IA

I was passing through this tiny town on a Saturday afternoon in June of 2014. I happened to look to my left and up a hill when I spotted this beauty! I slammed on the brakes and turned around; I couldn't resist going to take a long look at it. At one point in time, this school was buzzing with happy kids. Ironically, this town and school is called Nodaway. It seems this school has definitely nodded away.

    3. I went to school there in 5th grade in 1986. I have really fond memories of the building. The library, cracking erasers on the fire escapes, PE in the gym. Lucky enough to be a member of one of the most fun classes, and the best teacher in the world Mrs. Guffy. My dad also attended when he was younger and had Mrs. Guffy as well. When I went it schooled 3-5th grade children. We bussed over from Villisca. The bus rides were also amazing as our bus driver didn't care that we blasted AC/DC every day on the way to school.. "And we had the biggest balls of them all!"
