The Johnson Inn Restaurant (Exterior) - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Marine on Saint Croix, MN

Located at 101 Judd Street in Marine on Saint Croix, Minnesota, the General Store was used as the exterior of the Johnson Inn in the 1996 film "Beautiful Girls." The above image is a still from the film; below in August of 2014.

The back of the General Store was used in the fight scene between characters Steve and Tommy. Above is a still from the film; below in 2014.

Coincidently, the interior of this store was used in the 1995 film "The Cure."

Groveland Park Elementary School - "Little Big League" Filming Location - St. Paul, MN

"Little Big League" was always one of my favorite films as a child. Afterall, a kid gets to tell grown-ups what to do. I knew most of it had to be filmed in Minnesota because the story focused around the Minnesota Twins. After a little research, I found the school used as Billy's school for the interior shots only. The above image is a still from the film showing Billy running down the stairs. Below is the same spot in August of 2014.

The principal comes out of his office in the above shot to scold Billy for running; below is the same location in 2014.

New Hope Ice Arena - "Mighty Ducks" & "D2: Mighty Ducks 2" Filming Location - New Hope, MN

The New Hope Ice Arena, located at 4949 Louisiana Avenue North in New Hope, Minnesota is where the final game on the film "Mighty Ducks" was filmed.

 The above photo is how the arena appeared in the film; below is the same arena in 2014.

The opening sequence in "D2: Mighty Ducks 2" was also filmed here. This is the scene where Gordon Bombay gets hurt during his minor league hockey game. Initially, I thought this location was actually Minnehaha Ice Arena in SE Minneapolis due to the sign in the still below. It was a fake sign meant to fool people like me. Both stills below are from "D2."

Lunch Box Diner - "Angus" Filming Location - Owatonna, MN

Located at 514 South Grove Street in Owatonna, Minnesota is the former location of the Lunch Box diner, which is directly across the street from the High School. Rumor has it the diner was shut down after allegations of promoting tabacco use from minors. When it was a restaurant, it was used as a filming location for the 1995 film "Angus." Above is a still from the film; below is how it appeared in August of 2014, now a private residence.

In the above still from the film, you can see Troy and Angus eating at the Lunch Box. The Owatonna Senior High School sits as the back drop. Below is the same spot in 2014.

"Juno" Was Written Here - Target Store - Crystal, MN

Legend has it that the 2007 hit film "Juno" was written inside this Starbucks located inside of this Target store within a six-week period. It is located at 5537 West Broadway Avenue in Crystal, Minnesota.

Emerson School - "D2: Mighty Ducks 2" Filming Location - Minneapolis, MN

 

Emerson School, located at 1421 Spruce Place in Minneapolis, was used for an exterior shot during the rollerblading sequence in "D2: Mighty Ducks 2." Above is a still from the film as the Ducks skate past the front of the school; below is the same spot in July of 2014.

The playground of the school was also used later in the film. In the above still, you can see Charlie looking through the fence. The street directly behind him is Lasalle Avenue. Below is the same spot in July of 2014. 

This school was also used in the filming of "D3: Mighty Ducks 3."

F.A.I.R. School - "Joe Somebody" Filming Location - Crystal, MN

The F.A.I.R. School, located at 3915 Adair Avenue North in Crystal, Minnesota, was used as the exterior of character Natalie's school in the 2001 film "Joe Somebody."
