The Gas Station - "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)" - Bastrop, TX

The Gas Station is an infamous filming location from the 1974 cult classic, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." In 2016, a fan purchased and restored the gas station to look as it dd in the film. The top image here shows two side: the very top being a still from the film, and below is the same spot in March of 2024.
The location is no longer a gas station, but instead transformed into a destination souvenir shop for horror fans. There were even cabins recently added behind the location for those adventurous enough to want to spend the evening here.
You can find the location at 1073 TX-304 in Bastrop, Texas.

Salem Witch Museum - Salem, MA

All I can say is just take the tour. It's archaic, morbid, and a ton of fun. This former church is now the home of where the witch trial history in the United States is being preserved. It is a lot of fun. You can find it at 19 1/2 North Washington Square in Salem, Massachusetts.

Pioneer Village - "Hocus Pocus" Filming Location - Salem, MA

This is a tricky location for you Hocus Pocus lovers. Pioneer Village is an active tourist location, meant to resemble Salem in 1630. It was used as the village (seen above) where Thackery and Emily resided. The problem is this place is only open ion weekends and I visited them on a Monday. Above is a still from the film and below are a few shots in June of 2023. You can find it at 98 West Avenue in Salem, Massachusetts.

Town of Spectre - "Big Fish" Filming Location - Montgomery, AL

This was one of those bucket list locations for me. Located just north of Montgomery, Alabama, the fictitious Town of Spectre resides. This was a movie set built for the 2003 Tim Burton film "Big Fish," and much of it remains standing. The top photo of each set here is a still from the film, and the bottom photo is the same location in June of 2022.

In the above photo, the actual set was blocked off so I couldn't enter the building, but you can line up the shots with the fireplace.

I would visit this set soon if you are aiming to ever see it. The buildings are beginning to fall apart and many of the town's buildings have already caved in.

Quick Hill - "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)" Filming Location - Round Rock, TX

Without a doubt, the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" film is one of the scariest of all time. I made sure to seek out this location of where the original house once stood, as well as where the road where the final chase scene happened.

The old road and area where the Sawyer house was is almost unrecognizable here in 2021, but some remnants remain. I would encourage you to visit this location as soon as possible as there is a lot of construction going on around it, and this site will no doubt disappear in the coming years. It is fenced off and labeled "private property." You can find it directly south of the Camden La Frontera Apartments in Round Rock, Texas.

Each set of photos here has a screen shot of the original film, combined with an image of how that location looked in August of 2021.
