Lake William - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Shorewood, MN

Lake William in Shorewood, Minnesota was used for the ice fishing/ice skating scene in the film "Beautiful Girls." Above is a still from the film showing Willie arriving at the lake. Below is the same spot in October of 2014.

The Moonlight Mile Bar (Interior) - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Minneapolis, MN

Located at 501 Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis, the Nomad World Pub was used to shoot the interiors of the ficticious Moonlight Mile Bar in the film "Beautiful Girls." Above are two stills from the film which show the interior. Below is the Nomad World Pub in October of 2014. From what I understand, the seating booths seen above are no longer there.

Willie & Marty's Houses - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Stillwater, MN

In the 1996 film "Beautiful Girls," Willie and Marty's houses are right next to each other. In real life, the same thing. Above is a still from the film as Willie arrives home. Below is the same spot in September of 2014. Willie's address is 1337 2nd Street South in Stillwater, Minnesota. Only the exteriors of Willie's house were shot here.

Around the side of the house is where Willie sticks his head out the window during the "Romeo and Juliet" scene. Below is the same spot...the window is the one above the door awning.

Right next door at 1341 2nd Street South is Marty's house. Above is a still from the film with Marty outside building a snowman. Below is the same location in 2014.

The Johnson Inn (Interior) - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Minneapolis, MN

Located at 212 2nd Street SE in Minneapolis is the location used for the interior shots of the ficticious Johnson Inn in the film "Beautiful Girls." Above are two stills from the film that were shot here. This location has been various bars throughout the years and as of August of 2014, the bar is empty which is why I could only get the below exterior shot of the location used for interior shots. Makes sense, right?

Star Spangled Banner VFW Post 1149 - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Minneapolis, MN

Located at 3018 17th Avenue South in Minneapolis is the former location of the Star Spangled Banner VFW Post 1149. This was used for the party scene in the film "Beautiful Girls." Over the years, it switched from a VFW to a Somali church to a Spanish rec room. As of September of 2014, it is closed and undergoing renovations. This is a rough neighborhood and visiting here at night may not be the best idea.

The Salon - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Stillwater, MN

Located at 225 East Chestnut Street in Stillwater, Minnesota is the location used for both interiors and exteriors of the salon in the 1996 film "Beautiful Girls." The above two stills from the film show both the interior and exterior. The image below is the exterior in August of 2014.

The Moonlight Mile Bar (Exterior) - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Stillwater, MN

Sadly, the location used as the exterior for The Moonlight Mile Bar, located at 304 Main Street North in Stillwater, Minnesota, was torn down to make way for a new apartment complex. Above is a still from the film; below is the same location in August of 2014.

The Drug Store - "Beautiful Girls" & "The Cure" Filming Location - Stillwater, MN

This location is kind of a let down. The Drug Store in "Beautiful Girls" was renovated and turned into a Dairy Queen. The above two images are stills from the film so you can see what the store once looked like; below is the exterior in August of 2014. You can find it at 132 Main Street South in Stillwater, Minnesota.

The Johnson Inn Restaurant (Exterior) - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Marine on Saint Croix, MN

Located at 101 Judd Street in Marine on Saint Croix, Minnesota, the General Store was used as the exterior of the Johnson Inn in the 1996 film "Beautiful Girls." The above image is a still from the film; below in August of 2014.

The back of the General Store was used in the fight scene between characters Steve and Tommy. Above is a still from the film; below in 2014.

Coincidently, the interior of this store was used in the 1995 film "The Cure."

River Oasis Cafe - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Stillwater, MN

The River Oasis Cafe, located at 806 Main Street in Stillwater, Minnesota, was used for both the interior and exterior shots of the cafe in the film "Beautiful Girls." The above two images are stills from the film; below is the cafe in August of 2014.

The billboard on the property was also used in a shot in the film. The above image is a still from the film; below in 2014.

The Bus Stop - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Stillwater, MN

This is the location used as the bus stop in "Beautiful Girls." It is actually a liquor store, not a bus stop. The above is a still from the film; below in August of 2014. This is facing west down Chestnut Street.

Bryant-Lake Bowl - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Minneapolis, MN

I am glad to say, this place has not changed much in the 18 years since "Beautiful Girls" was filmed here. The above image is a still from the film; below in August of 2014.

Franklin Library - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Minneapolis, MN

This scene was shot the the Hennepin County Library located at 1314 East Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis.

The east fireplace was used for this scene between actors Matt Dillon and Lauren Holly as you can see in the above still from the film. Below is the same spot in August of 2014.

Jan's Duplex - "Beautiful Girls" Filming Location - Hopkins, MN

This duplex, located at 113 6th Avenue North in Hopkins, Minnesota, was used as Jan's residence in the 1996 film "Beautiful Girls." Above is a still from the film; below is the duplex in August of 2014.
